HERPES GENITALIS-A NEW HOPE=CANOVA ?

Recently a New Drugs-CANOVA-was tried for Herpes Genitalis at my Institute. We had selected two groups

1. Group of Herpes Genitalis with Acyclovir therapy alone
2. Group of Herpes Genitalis with Acyclovir and Canova Drops

• both groups were having 12 patients each
• all patients were male with age group 26 yrs-45 yrs
• all were followed for 6 months
  
• all were tested Serum IG M positive for HSV
• All were HIV negative
• All were non-Diabetics

Results were analysed and found following

1. Patients with Acyclovir only shown relapse in 8 patients and were in constant need of acyclovir therapy again
2. Group 2 patients only 2 patients showed relapse and were found more reassured
3. At the end of 6 month follow Up no other adverse effects were noted in any of groups
4. No further follow ups were done
